The Surgical Technology Program Coordinator is responsible to the Allied Health Department Chair for managing all aspects of Surgical Technology to include teaching a full time faculty load and the promotion and operation of all functions related to the program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and/or maintain current course syllabi for all courses taught within the Surgical Technology Program
Teach assigned courses
Coordinate and maintain Surgical Technology laboratory and equipment
Monitor the development and/or implementation of program activities as well as assisting in program recruitment and placement of students
Participate in departmental and divisional planning through committee assignments and meetings
Make recommendations in hiring and evaluation of adjunct faculty within the program
Assist students in advisement and registration activities
Manage the Surgical Technology Program budget within the framework of the department
Assist the Department Chair and Division Dean in projects as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Must be AST certified surgical technologist or operation room nurse with a minimum of 3 years clinical surgical experience and an AS degree in the field. Candidates with a BS degree and experience in higher education are preferred. Ability to communicate effectively and work independently is a must. Qualified candidates will have experience in task analysis program/curriculum development, student advisement and community outreach.
