Required Skills:-
Degree / College Major: BS in Chemistry or Biology preferred. BS in other Physical Science acceptable with additional relevant experience.
Relevant Laboratory experience: 0-2 years w/BS Chemistry, 2-4 years w/BS Biology, 4+ years w/BS in a Physical Science
Working knowledge of personal computers is required.
Good working knowledge of standard laboratory equipment and procedures.
Good oral and written communications skills.
Developed interpersonal and problem solving skills.
Preferred Background:
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
3 years of pharmaceutical laboratory experience
Demonstrated intermediate skills with core standard laboratory equipment and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:-
Description: This position is responsible for performing all laboratory testing on raw materials, packaging materials, finished products, stability samples, and environmental samples according to established laboratory procedures in the Quality Assurance Department. This position may deal with parenteral as well as oral and topical pharmaceutical products and products that are produced on-site as well as various other US and International locations.
Major Responsibilities:
Perform lab testing using diversified wet and instrumental chemical analyses on raw materials, packaging materials, finished products, stability samples, or environmental samples.
Perform testing in a manner that is consistent with site-approved safety guidelines, compendial, and regulatory testing requirements.
Perform tasks under general supervision.
Operate and maintain sophisticated, computer-controlled instrumentation including but not limited to HPLC, GC, FTIR, AA, UV and MS.
Maintains, and may be asked to troubleshoot and repair, laboratory equipment under direct supervision.
Participate in activities to reduce recurring problems and improving lab RFT, throughput, and cycle time performance.
Under supervision, work with QA Lab Sciences on the implementation of new or revised procedures and/or testing.
May review testing using notebooks, LIMS, and CDS while complying with all compendial and regulatory requirements.
Maintains working knowledge of applicable disciplines including chromatography (and applicable software system), LIMS, etc.
May work on special projects with general supervision. Draft reports with assistance from others.
May write and perform IOPQ protocols and reports for analytical equipment.
Internal and External Contacts/Customers:
Works closely with other Site departments to address testing requirements, quality problems and disposition of data.
Works with other AstraZeneca groups (QA Analytical Services, Purchasing (SAP), Manufacturing,
Maintenance) in the performance of day-to-day operations.
Works with contract manufacturers/packagers to resolve quality issues.
Works with outside vendors for purchasing supplies and equipment.
Additional Info:- Re-affirming the need to acquire someone with E-notebook experience. Given the choice I would prefer an E-notebook experience (i.E., method development, implementation) over a lab person that used E-Notebooks. Anyone that has worked with VelQuest E-notebooks would be ideal.
