USAREC will be testing a streamlined Moral Waiver process. This will allow Soldiers to apply with a very limited amount of paperwork to pre-qualify for the Moral Wavier. If disapproved, the Soldier will be notified and the application process will be ended.
If the Moral Waiver is approved, the Soldier would then be responsible to complete a normal application packet and include a copy of the waiver request with the application in the place of the moral waiver on the checklist. The entire packet must be submitted within 180 days of the approval of the Moral Waiver.
Interested Soldiers need to fill out and submit the following information:
1. Completed DA Form 61 exactly like the sample (including commanders comments in block 41)
2. Enlisted Records Brief (ERB)
3. Request for Moral Waiver exactly like the sample
4. Any supporting documents including court papers, Article 15 paperwork, police records or other items related to the event.
Note: Letters of recommendation are not allowed for the Moral Waiver requests unless it is someone related to the event. For example: Your commander cannot speak on your behalf because you are a great Soldier today if the Moral Waiver Request is for a juvenile offense. On the other hand, if the Commander is in direct relation to or has first hand knowledge of an event (letter of reprimand, Article 15, etc...) then his/her letter can be included as related to the event in question.
