Media Arts Center San Diego endorses the inclusion of underrepresented communities in the media arts field and the portrayal of accurate images of these communities by mainstream media and promotes community access to and use of media technology. Major programs include: San Diego Latino Film Festival, Teen Producers Project, Digital Media Workshops, and the Digital Story Station.
Position Overview:
The MACSD Member & Donor Relations Director will assist the Executive Director, with all aspects of MACSD donor and member relations – including cultivation and solicitation of members and individual donors, special events, and prospect research. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic organization during the creation and implementation phase of this new initiative; recently funded by the Parker Foundation.

The Member & Donor Relations Director will be required to create a year-long strategy for meeting these goals that includes benchmarks, a web-based and mailed giving campaign and a campaign directly capitalizing on the annual film festival attendees. In fulfillment of these efforts, the Director will:
Implement major gifts program for Media Arts Center San Diego, securing at least one major gift of $10,000+, or two gifts of $5,000+, from (an) individual donor (s) as part of the total $30,000 goal. The Member & Donor Relations Director will raise one or more gifts of this size from donors by cultivating a long-term relationship between these donors and the organization. The Executive Director and/or members of the Board will be involved in cultivation of major gifts donors from the beginning, as managed by the Member & Donor Relations Director.
Coordinate annual membership recruitment and retention/renewal campaign December 2007 through February 2008; just prior to 15th Annual San Diego Latino Film Festival (March 6-16, 2008). From the recommendation of the organization’s 3 year strategic plan, special effort will be made in purchasing new mailing lists in areas designated by consultant as containing potential new supporters for the annual Latino Film Festival (i.e. areas of Bonita, City of Chula Vista in particular). This data was created via ‘geo-demographical scan of organization’s existing database’ as well as from studies of Latino population and their interest in attending arts events throughout San Diego County.

Conduct prospect research and help develop cult ivation strategies for new individual members.
In conjunction with Executive Director, design focus groups and interview questions to gather research on current individual members.
