The Marketing and Advertising Manager provides key support to the Deputy Director of Marketing in analyzing sales/demographic/lifestyle trends, making and executing marketing recommendations to promote Met productions, and closely monitoring the budgets for such efforts. The position also serves as product manager for the Met’s new media initiatives and works with the Met’s advertising agency and creative services team on the development and implementation of the advertising and promotional schedule.
Primary Responsibilities
Key marketing and advertising support person for the Deputy Director of Marketing.
Analyze sales/demographic/lifestyle trends; make and execute strategic and tactical marketing recommendations (including digital marketing approaches) to promote Met productions.
Closely track and monitor budgets.
Serve as Product Manager for the Met’s new media initiatives (including The Met Live in High Definition, Met Opera Radio on SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network, Real Networks/Rhapsody).
Work with the Met’s advertising agency and creative services team to develop and implement media and promotional schedule.
Manage promotional partnerships with third parties and actively seek opportunistic relationships.
Proofing and copywriting as necessary.
Manage various market research initiatives.
Primary marketing support person to American Ballet Theater for their residency at the Met.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
5+ years of marketing/advertising/communications experience
B.A. degree
Experience in online/digital marketing
Detail orientated with excellent proofreading ability
Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
Superior organizational and project management experience
Ability to work well under pressure with accuracy and reliability and a sense of humor
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and handling multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work both independently and as an active team member
Demonstrated interest in the performing arts (and opera especially)
