Description
PURPOSE:
To perform a variety of engineering assignments related to developing and implementing production/processing methods, controls and projects to meet quality and manufacturing standards (SQDC) in a cost efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The ability to operate without frequent direct supervision.
Responsible for the planning, directing and supervision of engineering and plant personnel in support of ongoing operations/projects. Responsibilities include new product and process implementations and continuous improvement based on Lean principles.
Support and lead cross functional teams as well as interact with all levels of employees, external vendors and customers. Provide technical and process support for multiple plants as required.
Have a broad level of experience in performing core engineering disciplines, and project management, with demonstrated advanced skills in written and oral presentation, budget development, cost justification, project scheduling, and resource planning.
Have the ability to travel to plant locations in support of assigned initiatives. Travel may exceed 50% of scheduled work time.
Perform other tasks as directed by supervision.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.
Education, Experience and Skills
Four (4) year technical degree in Engineering.
5 – 7 years manufacturing engineering experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Personal computer skills in a networked environment, Microsoft products highly preferred.
Computer aided drafting skills (AutoCad preferred).
Lean and statistical process control training/experience a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds over head.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Typical manufacturing environment. The noise level is usually high. Work shifts will vary. Work hours will vary from normal business hours. Occasional weekend work may be required.
