SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will lead the Manufacturing Process Engineering group (6 people), with responsibility for concurrent development of manufacturing processes in support of new product introductions, including sophisticated electromechanical products and disposable plastic products for medical applications.
This position requires strong knowledge and experience in plastics manufacturing, extrusion and some injection. Specific responsibilities include:
Lead and develop a manufacturing engineering team responsible for concurrent development of internal manufacturing processes in support of new product introductions.
Contribute manufacturing expertise to make-buy decisions.
Generate manufacturing strategy and process flows for products that will be manufactured internally.
Integrate advanced methods and tools into manufacturing process development, using concepts from Lean, Six Sigma, and other sources.
Serve as a key technical contributor in Design For X (Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, etc.), Process FMEA, and related activities.
Develop manufacturing documentation, including Visual Work Instructions and documentation within the ERP system. Assist with the training of Production assemblers and operators.
Develop manufacturing processes in support of production facility start-up and expansion.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, manage multiple cross-functional projects, and drive a long-term manufacturing vision and strategy.
Extensive experience working within a concurrent engineering model to introduce complex new products into production.
Demonstrated success in utilizing advanced methods and tools to design and optimize manufacturing processes, including concepts from Lean, Six Sigma, and other sources.
Medical device experience strongly preferred.
Sterilization process experience strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of multiple manufacturing disciplines including: manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, test engineering, production control, procurement, supply chain management, and quality assurance.
Demonstrated high performance orientation, sound judgment, values driven, continuous innovation and improvement, detail orientation and adaptability skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Skilled at persuasion and consensus building in a team environment.
EDUCATION:
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Plastics Engineering. Advanced engineering degree or MBA preferred.
EXPERIENCE OR EQUIVALENT: . Strong knowledge and experience in plastics manufacturing, including areas such as extrusion, injection molding, bonding, assembly, testing, and packaging.
Minimum of seven years of experience within Manufacturing Operations with at least three years in a supervisory role.
