Job Description:
Build quality into products by following travelers, prints, set-up notes, control plans, and other documentation.
Read and understand Priority Status reports, machine schedules, maintenance schedules, Travelers, blueprints, part prints and specifications, including geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Use gages, i.e. calipers and micrometers
Use Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts, Statistical Process Predictability (SSP), and other measurement techniques to control/improve the machine process.
Identify suspect material and take reactive/corrective action.
Stock-up or otherwise present material of processing
Operate machines at the quoted rate (run or assist in running multiple machines concurrently).
Identify all parts (conforming & nonconforming) as they are produced and properly account for them in the manufacturing system (job cards, proper tags and placed in proper area).
Assist in repairs of machines and participate in trouble shooting when unscheduled down-time occurs.
Participate in maintaining a neat and orderly work area ensuring everything has a place and everything is in its place (5s).
Participate in daily cleaning of machines and the work area around the machines, during and after running them.
Keeping machines properly stocked with tooling job specific, hand and perishable tools.
Maintain and care for tooling i.e. sharpen, store, inventory job specific tools and perform tool rating when changing tooling.
Perform predictive maintenance.
Adjust tooling to achieve quality and throughput goals.
Change collects and pushers.
Practice continuous improvement, i.e. make recommendations and work on implementation of the improvement of tooling to enhance a product/job.
Skills Required
Previous technician/machine set-up experience.
Familiarity with automotive/machine shop setting.
Knowledge of Acme/Swiss machines a must.
Language Requirements
English-Very Good
