The Defined Benefits Center of Excellence (COE) Operations Manager (OM) is accountable for the overall delivery of pension calculations and associated processes for a group of clients within the COE. The OM is responsible for meeting and/or exceeding client contractual performance standards and COE operational metrics. The OM is also responsible for monitoring, streamlining, automating and/or improving standard operations practices within the COE. The OM will manage and leverage several managers both onshore and offshore (in another country). The OM is expected to work closely with their managers and other resources to create solid training processes to grow and develop associates within this group.
Activity/Responsibility
Monitors standard operations practices and quality for the COE; adherence to best practices, proactive management of metrics, and adjustments to COE staffing
Tracks and improves capacity and utilization of COE resources
Manages COE movement of work onshore and offshore and leverages COE resources to effectively execute on these plans
Leverages resources to identify, plan, and execute process improvement projects to create year-over-year efficiencies and quality improvements in COE
Leverages resources to plan, develop, and execute on training plans to grow and develop COE talent.
Manages associates
Builds strong network with managers in the COE; provides coaching and development of them and creates a culture of continuous improvement within COE
Monitors associate performance to ensure that results are achieved in an effective/efficient way
Conducts necessary performance management conversations with associates; uses tools and resources available to managers at Hewitt
Educates, reinforces, and holds associates accountable for behaviors that support Hewitt policies and guidelines (e.g., Code of Conduct, Data Privacy)
Qualifications:
Technical Skills
Advanced knowledge of operational processing
Advanced knowledge of Defined Benefit plans
Intermediate understanding of organizational structure
Basic understanding of financials, budgeting, and cost benefit analysis
Intermediate coaching and feedback skills
Basic understanding of Six Sigma/quality programs
Education and Certifications
Bachelors degree or related work experience
Work Experience
3+ years of DB experience (and demonstrated competence, depth, and breadth) with complex processing experience
2+ years of experience coaching and leveraging work through others
