| |
Alamance County Health Department, Burlington, NC. The health director of Alamance County (pop. 138,572) directs and manages a total staff of 115 employees with an annual budget of $7.3 million. The health director is responsible for the overall operation of the Health Department to include planning, organizing, implementing, directing, evaluating, and providing leadership in a variety of health programs including various clinics, health education, environmental health, WIC, and dental services. Responsible for budget/financial activities, contract management, and personnel policies and procedures including staff assignments, hiring, firing, and disciplinary actions. The health director serves as the health department’s representative and secretary to the Board of Health. The health director represents the agency when meeting with state and local government officials, community/service organizations, schools, hospital, and health professionals. The health director insures efficiency of agency operations and adequate resources for program maintenance and expansion and the delivery of comprehensive services to the community. The local health director is appointed by and reports to the Alamance County Board of Health.
Requirements:
A master’s degree in public health administration and at least one year of employment experience in health programs or health services; or a master’s degree in a public health discipline other than public health administration and at least three years of employment experience in health programs or health services; or a master’s degree in public administration and at least two years experience in health programs or health services; or a master’s degree in a field related to public health and at least three years of experience in health programs or health services; or a bachelor’s degree in public health administration or public administration and at least three years experience in health programs or health services.
Preferred Qualification: previous local public health director experience.
