Leads construction engineers in a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline for a particular area of the project. Provides engineering assistance to superintendents, directs assigned personnel in meeting cost and time schedules, verifies materials, equipment, and quality and assures results meet design requirements.
On a large project, independently performs assigned activities in one discipline, interfacing with other disciplines in all areas of the jobsite.
On a small to medium-sized project, functions as a lead discipline engineer, coordinating related discipline activities and interfacing with other areas/disciplines on the job site.
Position Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide technical direction and assistance to Electrical Superintendents and crafts.
Perform inspections of all electrical work in progress on a continual basis and complete final checkout of electrical installations to ensure quality and conformance to specifications and codes priior to turnover to client for startup.
Assist project controls and supervision in the establishment of detailed work plans and mini-schedules.
Perform takeoffs and initiate and track field purchased materials for electrical commodities.
Responsible for on-site Setroute database and associated interface with electrical installations and tests.
Coordinate and document client and vendor required verifications of electrical installations and tests.
Assist the technical coordination the activities of the lock-out and tag-out program.
Coordinate with vendor Technical Advisors as required.
Coordinate with Engineering to resolve drawing and Setroute issues
Inspect permanent plant materials during the receiving process to insure they meet project standards and drawings
Issue FMRs for purchase of permanent plant materials
Coordinate and inspect subcontractors in the electrical field
Basic Qualifications:
BSEE or BSCM from an accredited college or university (or suitable technical working experience) and 8 years experience in construction or equivalent experience
Familiar with National Electrical Code and NEMA standards
Must have intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel
Must be able to walk over rough ground, climb ladders and walk multiple levels of stairs
Must have a valid US driver's license
Must be computer-literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications (with current BSAP's)
Must be familiar with current industry quality standards.
Willing to work second shift and overtime as needed to support project schedule
Must have the right to work and remain in the USA
Preferred Qualifications:
Practical experience in a direct hire construction work environment Experience with sthe area of installation and testing of electrical systems, lighting system, high voltage equipment, grounding, DCS systems and cable pulling
Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAP's) and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects, particularly Setroute including familiarity with Bechtel's SWPP's 4MP-T81-03301 - Elect Equip Installation, 03302 - Raceways, 03303 - Cable Installation, 03304 - Cable Terminations, 03305 - Constr Elect Testing, 03306 - Electr Heat Tracing, 03308 - Lighting Installation, 03309 - Cathodic Protection.
Note project will be working mandatory 5-10's
