Diversified Energy Corporation (DEC) is a privately held alternative and renewable energy company focused on maturing innovative technologies, developing commercial energy projects, and providing engineering services support to project developers. Principal areas of expertise include biofuels, gasification, and algae production. Currently, Diversified Energy? is focused on advancing a gasification technology that promises to provide significant economic benefits compared to existing processes. To that end, the company is executing multiple customer-funded Research and Development (R&D) projects to perform risk management, end-to-end process design, modeling and simulation, and economic analysis to further mature this breakthrough technology.
Job Description: As a result, an exciting opportunity is now available for a Senior Chemical Process System Engineer to join the Diversified Energy team and contribute towards the development of DEC?s advanced gasification technology as well as support other technology portfolio R&D activities.
Job Description:
The Senior Chemical Process Engineer is responsible for providing technical oversight and guidance to all of the on-going programs at Diversified Energy. Specifically, applicable candidates must have a good working understanding of gasification and the related syngas processing, clean-up, and end use applications that are currently available. Technical modeling capability in the areas of gasifier operation, shift reactions, distillation, acid gas removal and methane/ammonia synthesis is desirable. Qualified candidates must also have a working-level understanding in the area of biofuel generation from various biomass conversion techniques.
Additional duties and responsibilities include:
Ability to exhibit leadership skills in motivating a small team of engineers in the development of technologies for the alternative energy market
Management of small to medium sized projects including cost management and reporting, schedule development/execution and presentation of interim and final reports to the customer
Detailed modeling of gasification processes using AspenPlus?
Detailed modeling of chemical process systems using both spreadsheet analysis and AspenPlus?
Ability to interface with hardware vendors and lead major component procurement activities
The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and presentation skills, be comfortable working in a small team environment, and have the ability to identify and solve high level system design, integration and optimization problems related to the alternative energy and chemical processing fields.
Qualifications:
B.S. Chemical Engineering minimum with M.S. preferred
Minimum of 5 years working in chemical processing/alternative energy or related industries
Working knowledge of AspenPlus? chemical process software
Must possess good written, verbal, and presentation skills
Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid passport
Must be willing to travel (~10-20% of time)
