Description:
Under minimal supervision, provides engineering and technical support for Central Maine Power Company?s transmission, distribution, and substation protection and control systems.
Responsibilities:
Provides engineering support and analytical guidance to system operators, system planners, and field technical personnel to ensure the safety and reliability of the electric system.
Develops protection criteria and performs short circuit and relay coordination studies for the protection of transmission lines and critical substation equipment.
Analyzes system disturbances and reports on system protection performance and power quality impact.
Reviews protection and control designs and relay setting calculations performed by others for proper adherence to CMP practices
Assists in the integration, revision and/or execution of maintenance engineering supporting computer programs and databases.
Manages the identification and classification of capital improvements and subsequent inclusion in the associated capital budget.
Oversees the completion of special investigations, assignments or technical assistance, as required.
Performs additional activities such as development and delivery of technical training, development of maintenance programs, maintenance specifications and practices, equipment assessment, technical support, and development of equipment specifications.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology or equivalent experience. MS or MBA preferred.
Experience/Training:
At least 5 years of experience in system protection engineering, power system engineering or project management.
Certifications:
Required registration as a Professional Engineer.
Skills/Abilities:
Highly developed verbal and written communications skills
Effective in managing multiple priorities and an effective team player.
