The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission employs approximately 500 full-time workers and 400 temporary workers in locations across the state. Types of jobs vary widely, from park rangers and aides to engineering, planning, construction and clerical positions. Each one plays an important role in the operation, maintenance, improvement and protection of Washington's cherished state parks.
Responsible for the preparation of civil and environmental engineering reports/studies, contract drawings, technical specifications, and contract cost estimates for a wide variety of capital development projects.
Prepare and draft conceptual, 30%, 60%, 90% and 100% level public works contract plan and details using Auto-Cad and EaglePoint design software and tools. Compute and develop project base maps for design and permitting purposes from acquired field survey data.
Provide project permitting coordination and obtain permits for projects, including the development of complete permit plan sets, preparing/submitting of permit applications, drafting engineering reports, preparing calculations, scheduling and attending regulatory meetings with various agencies, preparing and providing maps, and reviewing draft environmental permit paperwork prepared by others.
Act as Field Engineer/Project Manager performing construction site inspections, making recommendations and/or designing field engineered revisions as required, negotiating change orders, preparing contract payments, preparing contract closeout documentation, and handling first level contract disputes and claims.
In the field, act as Senior Party Chief, or in the office, as Project Engineer, and supervise engineering aides during individual project design or field work assignments.
