Provides leadership and direction to plant maintenance department responsible for repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment in manufacturing operations. Responsible to eliminate all causes of failure and ensure full useful life in coordination with daily maintenance completed by operating personnel. Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation to ensure continuous production operations. Creates and manages the maintenance and stores budgets. Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards. Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities. SCOPE: Large plant. 7 years related experience.
Plan & direct the maintenance function to attain optimum utilization of machinery, materials & labor, achieve optimum capacity, yields and overall cost reduction.
Direct maintenance supervisors and hourly maintenance associates in their roles and responsibilities to meet plant objectives in safety, quality, cost, and customer service.
Responsible for all major engineering projects, including planning, design, construction/fabrication, installation & maintenance of all equipment for Gilroy East and West facilities.
Responsible for all equipment and system designs.
Controlling modifications of machinery to assure progressive improvement changes while keeping the risk associated with change within reasonable limits.
Develop and implement Capital Project Program within budget limits for both facilities to include financial analysis, collection and timely submission of capital project request. This process includes closing CIR Plans to capitalize or expense any new assets.
Responsible for assigning projects to engineers, outside contractors, according to expertise and professional development.
Manages all maintenance related projects to insure that all are technically sound and in compliance with all employee safety, food safety and regulatory standards.
Ensures compliance with all Federal, State and local regulations regarding occupational health and food safety.
Performs food safety inspections, monitors and assists sanitation / QC employees to ensure proper sanitation (HAACP and GMPs).
Insures compliance with all city, county, state and federal environmental laws.
Ensures action items developed from all audits are completed in a timely manner.This includes but not limited to food safety, customer, insurance and environmental audits.
Responsible for the entire building and ground for Gilroy East and West maintenance.
Negotiates agreements with the city, county, state, and other agencies as required.
Manages and controls the utilities of both facilities.
Manage the planning, recording the consumption of natural gas, electricity, water, waster water and trash hauling.
Responsible for securing and maintaining all necessary permits, licenses and agreements required to construct, install and operate equipment and facilities.
Insures compliance with all city, county, state and federal environmental laws.
Ensures action items developed from all audits are completed in a timely manner.
Adheres to corporate procedure for aspects of purchase requisitioning.
Responsible for maintaining fixed asset listing of operating and idle equipment in company approved database.
Responsible for implementing corporate plant maintenance software and work order system.
Responsible for preparing, managing and controlling the maintenance budget.
Manage overhaul, preventive maintenance or new equipment installation with the Operations Managers.
Responsibility for managing and controlling the storeroom activities.
Responsibility for managing and controlling spare parts inventory.
Ensure that daily production meets all standards and production schedules.
Motivates the team to improve quality, safety and cost performance.
Planning strategic equipment improvement projects.
Requires high degree of initiative to seek out opportunities for improvement.
It also requires special training, creativity, and ingenuity to identify best solutions to problems and best approaches on new projects.
Plays a key role in all business unit decisions related to major capital or expense projects.
Provides technical advice to senior management and plays a key role in planning and insuring that the technological advancement of the plant supports the business plans of the company.
