Seattle City Light’s Conservation Resources Division is currently looking for an Energy Management Analyst for the department that provides energy efficiency funding and consulting services to major non-residential electric service customers (the C/I group). This position offers a unique opportunity to advance a career in energy efficiency. The Energy Management Analyst will promote the use of advanced energy conservation measures by doing such things as: working closely with commercial and industrial customers to identify and implement conservation opportunities; participating in the planning, developing and monitoring of energy management programs; performing technical and economic analyses of energy conservation opportunities; and conducting seminars on energy management. As an Energy Management Analyst, you will be expected to form strong working relationships with customers, contractors, engineers, developers, and building owners. Key responsibilities in this role will include, but are not limited to: promoting the benefits of, and securing customer participation in, City Light programs aimed at the promotion of energy conservation; performing complex analyses of energy use, energy savings, and financial incentives; identifying additional opportunities for energy and resource savings in customer facilities; monitoring, tracking and reporting program accomplishments; preparing and executing customer contracts securing SCL financing; assisting in ongoing marketing, planning and development of program activities; and coordinating efforts with SCL staff and other City Departments.

Seattle City Light’s energy efficiency program is the oldest continuously operating municipal energy conservation initiative in the country, starting in 1977 when the City established the use of energy conservation as its highest-priority, most cost-effective, most environmentally-friendly energy resource. Since then, City Light has become recognized as a national leader in the field of conservation, delivering energy efficiency programs and services to a wide range of customers throughout the City and surrounding communities. With an annual budget of more than $10 million, the C/I group is responsible for working with commercial, government and institutional customers. In a typical year, the C/I group develops and manages several hundred contracts aimed at providing customers with funds and technical consulting services to make it easy for customers to decide to use innovative equipment and infrastructure that will minimize energy usage.

Required Qualifications: Baccalaureate degree in engineering, energy management, conservation, architecture or a related discipline and two years experience in professional commercial or industrial energy management analysis; (Other combinations of education, training and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability.) and a Valid Washington State driver’s license or evidence of equivalent mobility.

Desired Qualifications: Strong sales ability, promotional skills, and project management skills; Experience with industrial processes and technologies that consume energy in industrial processes (e.g., air compressors, motors, pumps); Knowledge of energy conservation resource concepts & energy savings verification methods; Computer-based energy modeling, lighting design & analysis; HVAC design & analysis; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and experience using database applications; Values in multiculturalism and diversity as a workforce and community asset; An industrial, mechanical or electrical engineering degree and/or a professional engineering license are desired but are not required for this position.
