Job responsibilities: • This person will be responsible for initiating, executing, and evaluating PR activities to raise the profile of the company. • Be a key interface between external journalists and The Mergermarket Group, managing queries from all types of media, including print, on-line and broadcast outlets. Closely manage existing relationships while continually pursuing new contacts and arrangements. Manage, update, and prepare media contact lists. Follow up on requests and track and save coverage for the press clippings portfolio. • Work with external journalists to ensure maximum media coverage. Actively pitch the media with story ideas and gauge what initiatives will resonate most with the North American press. Negotiate regular data/intelligence columns with branding, in key Financial and Legal press. Proactively pursue placements in the trade and vertical press. • Work independently and run mergers and acquisitions (M&A) related data for journalists directly from the mergermarket site, in addition to working closely with senior members of the research team to use their extensive knowledge and capabilities. • Manage relationships with key internal officers to maximize PR efforts in coordination with sales and editorial goals. Identify and prioritise projects according to target sales areas. Work closely with the Marketing Manager to ensure all activity is effectively communicated. • Develop, edit and distribute the PR/Legal and Financial league table press releases on a quarterly basis • Awards Skills required: • Up to 3 years experience in public relations, agency-side or in-house. Outstanding recent graduates are encouraged to apply • Excellent writing and communication skills • Highly organized, enthusiastic, personable, and fast-learning with great attention to detail • Proven ability to work independently on a firm deadline The ideal candidate will have a proven interest in financial PR. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to develop a career in financial PR. The position is available immediately and the candidate will need to be eligible to work in the US. The successful candidate will be based in New York, one of three regional head offices for the company, and will be part of the global Marketing and PR Team, reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications at our global headquarters in London with dotted line reporting to our Editor-in-Chief, based in New York.
