Depends on what you want to do with it and how much you want to spend. If you are looking for the best processor under $100, you have to go with AMD. The Athlon 64 X2 4800+ can be had for $85 at newegg.com. If you want maximum gaming and over clocking performance, you want the new G0 stepping Intel core 2 duo's. You can get 2.4 GHz model for around $230 I believe. For maximum overall CPU performance and future longevity, you'd want to go quad core. The Intel Q6600 is a steal right now for about $280.
