POSITION SUMMARY
The Grower Liaison assists and works under the direction of the VP of Production and VP of Artichoke Production. The qualified candidate will be an effective advocate for the Ocean Mist Farms label and organization by always striving to produce and ship the highest quality, most consistent product while striving to achieve the lowest cost per unit. An attention to detail in all activities is imperative. A strong work ethic and job dedication is essential to be successful in this position.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Support, communicate, monitor, and facilitate the needs of all LMF growers. Become an interface between LMF growers and other aspects of the OMF operations;
2. Monitor the quality of all crops in LMF’s production areas. Crops are to be monitored at a minimum of once a week or more if necessary. This includes areas such as the Salinas Valley, San Benito County and Oxnard;
3. Specific aspects of production to be monitored are: planting populations, timeliness of irrigations and fertilization, communication with PCA’s regarding pest control issues with suggested control, communication with PCA’s and harvesting managers regarding days to harvest, and any other factor that affects the quality and yield of Ocean Mist Farms crops;
4. Maintain records and costs on all LMF’s crops. (i.e., crop histories). Make sure planting schedules and parameters are followed by all LMF Growers;
5. Update all planting schedules on a bi-monthly basis;
6. Communicate weekly verbal and written reports to VP of Production on all LMF grower crops and deals;
7. Monitor outside growing deals as assigned with other farmers for quality of production. Maintain costs according to developed grower budgets;
8. Travel to any area LMF has production and growing deals on a regular as needed basis. (A minimum of one time per week or more);
9. Monitor all thinning and hoeing of all LMF growers for quality and timeliness of performed work. Perform stand counts on all crops to insure proper spacing for best quality;
10. At all times maintain a professional image that supports LMF’s image and goals;
11. Be an effective advocate for the Ocean Mist Farms label and organization by making every effort to produce and ship the highest quality, most desirable product, while striving to achieve the lowest cost per unit;
12. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Production, or Agriculture Business with production oriented courses;
2. Courses in business management desirable;
3. Experience with vegetable crop farming preferred but not required;
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
1. 3-5 years experience in vegetable crop production; experience in the agricultural industry is desirable;
2. Bi-lingual in English/Spanish is a necessity. If not bi-lingual, individual will be required to develop a timetable detailing when this requirement will be achieved;
3. Advanced computer skills required (Excel and Word, Microsoft Outlook);
4. Impeccable attention to detail and ability to keep detailed records;
5. PCA license is very desirable;
6. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work;
7. At all times maintain a professional image that supports Ocean Mist Farms image and goals;
8. Driver’s license needed Class C. Maintain “clean” record;
9. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team; identify and resolve complex problems; able to work in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment; and to manage multiple projects;
10. A self-motivated, detail-oriented person is required.
11. Strong work ethic and high integrity;
12. Highly organized and manages time well;
13. Excellent communicator one-on-one and in group settings;
14. Flexible and able to deal with multiple tasks simultaneously;
15. Calm under pressure.
16. Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

1. Ability to work in an office and field environment, often sitting for long periods of time;
2. Ability to travel and work in field locations. Ability to walk one to two miles daily in fields with uneven terrain;

4. May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry 60 pounds or more without undue physical exertion;
5. Ability to communicate verbally and comprehend verbal instructions;
6. Travel to other remote company locations as required by management;
7. Requires sufficient sight and hearing to perform all duties;
8. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet, but can be loud when working around farm equipment;
9. Office equipment to be used (not inclusive list): telephone, computer keyboard, photocopy machine, fax, 10-key calculator by touch, postage meter and other clerical and office equipment.
